2008 HIT-GTA Executive Board Newsletter
Dear Alumni,
With the holidays upon us, I want to wish each and everyone of you the best of the season. There is no occasion more appropriate than this to acknowledge that your loyalty and commitment are the foundation of our success. For this and more I say thank-you.
It is a time for both celebration and reflection as another year draws to an end. We have accomplished much together. We have made contributions to ensure the success of today's HIT-GTA’s missions and we have reinforced our commitment to support our HIT alumni. After the kick-off of the new board of directors, we had Chinese New Year celebration in last March. We have transferred our web server to another safe and free location and changed the domain name to www.hit-na.org. Many thanks to Mr. Yao, Da Ming, one of our board members for his generous support.
We have successfully organized a HIT-GTA annual Summer Picnic in early of July. We have also collected more information from many of you in a survey in order for us to serve you better. In our own way, we are trying to provide more and serve more to our alumni, you, me, her or him.
In 2007, we made great strides in building stronger relationships both within our own HIT-GTA and with HIT and other associations of HIT alumni.
I personally made a trip to visit the General Association of HIT Alumni on HIT campus and discussed several issues in terms of serving our alumni and strength our relationship with HIT, etc. One issue was to find volunteers to maintain our www.hit-na.org website as it has not been updated yet since last time in 2005. Particularly, we have switched it to a new server and plan to update it onto a new platform with Web 2.0 features to serve you better. However, everybody is busy and there will be a fair amount of work involved. The solution we were trying was to look for a couple of student volunteers from HIT to help us. However, it has been two or three months since our job advertisement went on HIT website and there is still no any candidate yet at this time. Hence, we need your help! Would you please contact us if any of you or your friends/children likes to help us. Together we are strengthening our support to ourselves and others.
This is also a special time to share with family and friends. As a matter of fact that we just had a board meeting with several alumni yesterday to discuss how to celebrate Chinese New Year. It was really a good turn-around and we decided to co-organize a celebration event with the newly formed Canadian Association of Heilongjiang. In the past, it was difficult to find a public indoor place to hold such a big event in the winter. We always ended up with a restaurant and it was never good. Therefore, we would like to do it together with Association of Heilongjiang this year with lots of games for kids and adults. The date is Feb. 9th and location will be finalized soon. Please mark your calendar for this special event.
There is always not enough to say, but we all can be proud of our accomplishments as volunteers. Now we can look upon the past with pride and to the future with renewed hope. Our organization is strong and is recognized as both a trusted oversea association of HIT alumni and a service provider.
Finally, my warmest wishes for a safe and festive season. May 2008 bring prosperity, peace and joy to you and your loved ones. I look forward to working with you in making 2008 a momentous year for HIT-GTA.

尊敬的各位校友，
时间如梭，又是一年过去了。请让我代表校友组委会感谢一年来您们对我们工作的支持，并向您们和家人表示新春的祝福。在新旧更迭之际，请让我先向您们汇报一下这一年来的主要工作。
1. 组委会成员张志宇去美国工作后，祝岩担当起了志宇的责任。
2. 将校友会组委会成员的电子邮箱,从 Yahoo 转到 Google。
3.校友会网站恢复运行并改名为 www.hit-na.org.感谢姚大铭无偿提供server。
4. 2007年3月初在 Mandarin 举办了一年一度的春节团聚会。
5. 更新及发布了中英文校友通讯录。
6. 2007年7月初，举办了一年一度的野餐会。
7. 2007年8月初，侯明回母校与校友总会讨论工作并为我们 www.hit-na.org 招聘网络志愿维护人员（至今没有合适的人选）。
8. 2007年12月初向哈工大第三次海内外校友工作研讨会发出贺信。
9. 2007年12月23日组委会开会探讨如何举办春节联欢会及招聘网络志愿维护人员事宜。决定以协作的形式与黑龙江同乡会共同承办春节联欢会。张炜会后进一步落实. 请校友记住日期是2008年2月9日。地点待定。请提供宝贵意见。
10. 目前的网站极需更新，但我们一时找不到合适的网络维护人员。 所以，如果您或您的孩子或朋友愿意帮忙，请尽快与我们联系。
总之，在大家繁忙的学习，工作，和生活之余，我们正在努力来更好地服务大家，同时也希望有更多的校友来更具体的支持。最后，祝 校 友 们 新 年 快 乐, 身 体 健 康, 万 事 如 意 ！2008 年 2 月 9 日春节晚会见。
